Join us for our first Cooper Cabin Open House event on August 7, 2021!
This event will include guided tours of the newly redecorated Cooper Cabin Homestead featuring the stories of several Cooper family members, and a demonstration from The 63rd Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry Civil War Reenactors! Tours will be running at 11 a.m., 12 p.m., 1 p.m., and 2 p.m.
Cooper Cabin Homestead was built using hand-hewn logs by the Cooper family circa 1810. The cabin thus became an original county homestead. It was enlarged after the Civil War and family descendants remained in the cabin until 1962. In 1976, the cabin and grounds were bequeathed to the Society. The cabin is furnished with family heirlooms and memorabilia as well as other period pieces. Outbuildings include a spinning house and a spring house.
Tickets for non-BCHS members are available NOW in our shop! Members will enjoy FREE TOURS and a private meeting after the event (at 4 p.m.) with the BCHS staff and Board of Directors! All members must either reserve tickets online (by “purchasing” a members-only ticket in our shop), or call us at 724-283-8116!
